Allow about 60 cm of table edge per person. That means the 175-cm Bordeaux M seats 6 people and the 230-cm Bordeaux L seats 8. With the two 50-cm extension pieces, that increases to 10 and 12 people, respectively. The round table with a diameter of 125 cm seats 4 people, or 6 if you pull out the built-in extension piece. If you choose chairs with armrests, allow for 65 cm per person instead.

Yes. The rectangular Bordeaux (M and L) has a built-in storage compartment for two 50-cm extension pieces, which you purchase separately. This allows the M to extend from 175 to 275 cm and the L from 230 to 330 cm. The tabletop is made of veneer with a matte finish: oak veneer for natural oak, whitewashed oak, and black oak; walnut veneer for walnut. The legs are made of solid oak (natural and whitewash) or solid beech (walnut and black), stained with a water-based varnish. The central base of the round table is octagonal, made of solid wood, and rests on a round base plate in matte black steel.

The Bordeaux is available in the same four wood finishes as the D100 and D200 wooden bases for the Stressless dining chairs—Mint, Laurel, Vanilla, and Bay: natural oak, whitewashed oak, walnut, and black. It is 74 cm high; the Stressless dining chairs have a seat height of 48 cm, and their armrests also slide under a table that is 74 to 75 cm high. The legs of the rectangular table are positioned so they don’t get in the way of the chairs, and the round table with a central base has no legs to get in the way at all.

A round table with a diameter of 125 cm fits well in a smaller dining room or kitchen and makes conversation easier, since everyone faces each other. It’s ideal for four people on a daily basis and six when you have guests. If you often dine with six or more people, or if you have a long room, choose the rectangular M or L size. It’s best to leave 90 cm of space around the table so you can walk past an occupied chair.

Wipe down the tabletop with a dry or slightly damp, soft cloth, and then dry it off. Avoid abrasive cleaners and harsh polishes, and use coasters under hot pans and wet glasses. It’s best not to place the table directly in front of a window in direct sunlight: veneer slowly discolors when exposed to UV light.
