With its rounded shell, this chair cradles you in the Bay without sticking out above your table. It’s designed for those who like to stay seated at the table.

The Bay has a rounded back that wraps around your shoulders. It’s only available with a 91-cm-high back, so it barely rises above the tabletop. It looks great in an open living space where you want to keep the view unobstructed.

2 versions
With or without armrests?
The Bay features a low back measuring 91 cm, is available in size L, and has a seat height of 48 cm. Without armrests, it is 50 to 57 cm wide; with armrests, it is 59 cm wide. The armrests provide extra support when standing up and slide under a standard dining table measuring 74 to 75 cm.

Which chassis should you choose for your Bay?
Each Bay model fits on five different bases. The base determines the look, the price, and whether your chair can swivel. Swiveling is only possible with the D350 base; the D200 and D400 are the most affordable.

Why choose a swivel Bay for the table?
You don't have to slide the chair back to sit down or get up, and you can easily turn to face the person sitting next to you. Plus, a swivel chair lets you move around more, so you stay comfortable longer. This is especially handy in a smaller dining area.
Does the Bay turn back on its own?
By default, the D350 base rotates freely. If you choose the auto-return option, the chair will always rotate neatly back toward the table after you stand up. That option costs €63 per chair.
Wood or metal?
Wood (D100, D200) has a warm look and goes well with a wooden table. Metal (D300, D400) has a lighter appearance and goes well with a table that has a metal base. D300 costs the same as D100, and D400 costs the same as D200.

At which table does the Bay look its best?
The Bay looks its best at a round table and in an open living space, where its shell-like shape stands out without blocking the view. Allow 59 cm of width per chair, including armrests, and leave 30 to 40 cm of space behind the chair. How much does a Stressless Bay dining chair cost?
A Stressless Bay is available at the Stressless Store starting at €539 per chair, without armrests, in fabric, on a D200 or D400 base. With armrests, Velaro leather, and the swiveling D350 base, the price rises to €868. All prices include VAT, and delivery in Belgium and the Netherlands is free.
Is the Stressless Bay available with a high back?
No. The Stressless Bay is only available with a low back that’s 91 cm high. Its enveloping, shell-like shape barely rises above the tabletop, which looks great in an open living space. If you’re looking for a dining chair with a high back, check out the Mint, the Laurel, or the Vanilla.
What are the dimensions of the Stressless Bay?
The Stressless Bay has a seat height of 48 cm, is 91 cm tall, and is 59 to 60 cm deep. Without armrests, it is 50 to 57 cm wide, depending on the base, and 59 cm wide with armrests. It comes in one size: L.
Will Bay chairs with armrests fit under my table?
It will fit under a standard dining table that is 74 to 75 cm high. The armrests on a Stressless dining chair are no more than 69 to 70 cm high, so they slide under the tabletop. Be careful with built-in desks or work tables: they’re often only 70 cm high. With armrests, the Bay is 59 cm wide.
What is the difference between the Stressless Bay and the Mint?
The Bay has a rounded, enveloping shell shape and is available only with a low back. The Mint has a straighter back with a stitching line and is available with both high and low backs. The Bay is slightly shallower (59 to 60 cm compared to 62 to 63 cm) and, with armrests, 1 cm wider.
Does the Stressless Bay swivel?
Yes, the Stressless Bay rotates 360 degrees on the D350 base. It rotates freely as standard; with the auto-return option, the chair automatically rotates back toward the table after you stand up. That option costs €63 per chair. The other bases—D100, D200, D300, and D400—do not rotate.
Can I order the Stressless Bay online?
Yes. In the configurator on this page, you can choose the model, base, upholstery, color, and number of chairs, and place your order online right away. Each chair is made for you in Norway, with a delivery time of 8 to 10 weeks. If you want chairs in different colors, please configure them one by one.
What kind of upholstery should I choose for a Bay with kids?
Our consultants recommend leather for households with children or grandchildren, particularly Paloma or Velaro. Both are durable and easy to clean with a damp cloth, provided you treat the leather at least twice a year with a Stressless care kit. If you have cats or dogs, keep in mind that leather is more susceptible to scratches.
How long is the warranty on a Stressless Bay?
You receive a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty. In addition, Stressless offers a 10-year warranty on the chair’s mechanism, the Balance&Glide™ system, and the metal frame. Damage to leather, fabric, or wood is not covered. Repairs are performed by our own team.
Can I try out the Stressless Bay in Leuven or Antwerp?
Yes, at the Stressless Store in Leuven and the Stressless Store in Antwerp, you can try out the Stressless dining chairs at the table, with or without an appointment. If you’d like to be sure a specific version or color of the Bay is available, please call or email us in advance. You’re welcome to take leather and fabric samples home with you.
Is the Stressless Bay also available as an office chair?
Yes. The Bay is also available as a home office chair on a star-base with five casters, starting at €679. This way, you’ll enjoy the same adaptive seating comfort at your desk as you do at the table. For eight hours a day of intensive computer work, we recommend a full-featured ergonomic office chair.
