Five frames: Which one is right for you?
Since Ekornes builds each Ruby to order, you can tailor it perfectly to your body and your home. The base determines how the armchair moves and what it looks like.
The Classic base rotates 360°, is sturdy and stable, features straight armrests, and has the lowest seat height. The Signature (wood and aluminum) and Cross (metal cross-base) models feature the rocking BalanceAdapt™ motion and have angled armrests. If you work at a desk, there’s the Office model on casters; if you want electric adjustment, choose the Power™ model.
You can choose from eight wood finishes, and the metal on the Signature and Cross models is available in matte black or polished.

Upholstery & Maintenance
Leather or fabric: Which upholstery should you choose?
The look and feel of your Ruby depend heavily on the upholstery. The leather is high-quality cowhide, available in four grades: Batick, which is durable and easy to maintain; Paloma, which is soft and natural; Velaro, which is thick and luxurious; and Noblesse, an exclusive semi-aniline leather.
When you choose your fabric, you'll find dozens of colors and textures: from wool (Calido) and bouclé (Marigold) to velour (Magnolia) and the suede-like microfiber Dinamica. All fabrics have been tested for durability.
Maintenance is simple but important. Official Stressless® care kits are available for leather and fabric, with instructions included in the box.

The Ruby has rounder, more generously padded contours and feels cozier; the Reno has a slightly sleeker silhouette with a softly padded extra layer. The Ruby is also slightly more affordable: the Classic with a footstool starts at €2,285, compared to €2,519 for the Reno.
What is the difference between Classic, Signature, and Cross?
The difference lies in the base. Classic features a round wooden base that rotates 360°, with straight armrests and the lowest seat height. Signature combines wood with aluminum, and Cross features a sleek metal cross base; both include BalanceAdapt™, a subtle rocking motion, and tilted armrests. In addition, the Ruby is available as the Office model on casters and as the electric Power™ model.
Can the Stressless® Ruby be adjusted electrically?
Yes. The Ruby Power™ has built-in motors instead of a separate footrest. Buttons under the armrest let you extend the footrest and recline the backrest. The Power™ is available in sizes M and L, with an optional rechargeable battery so you don't need a cord.
What size Ruby do I need—S, M, or L?
That depends on your height and leg length. Size S is 74 cm wide with a seat height of 41 cm, size M is 76 cm wide with a seat height of 42 cm, and size L is 88 cm wide with a seat height of 46 cm (Classic). A seat that’s too low or too deep can put just a little more pressure on your lower back. When you try out the chair in the showroom, we’ll work with you to determine which size fits you best.
Does the Stressless® Ruby have an adjustable headrest and a sleep function?
Yes. The headrest is adjustable in height by about 10 cm. If you want to recline, simply pull the top of the headrest toward you briefly: the mechanism unlocks, and the headrest tilts back flat, allowing you to sleep comfortably.
Should I choose leather or fabric?
Both options are available. The leather is high-quality cowhide, available in four quality grades: Batick, Paloma, Velaro, and Noblesse. Leather has a luxurious look and is easy to maintain; fabric often feels warmer and comes in dozens of colors and textures, from wool and bouclé to velour and microfiber. In our showroom, you can feel all the samples and make your selection with the help of an advisor.
Where is the Stressless® Ruby made?
The Stressless® Ruby is manufactured in Norway by Ekornes, at its factories on the Norwegian west coast, where Stressless has been designing and producing recliners since 1971. Each Ruby is made to order after you place your order.
How much does a Stressless® Ruby cost, and what is the delivery time?
Online, you can purchase the Stressless Store Special Offer: starting at €1,942 (Classic without footstool in fabric group 1), starting at €2,285 with footstool, and up to €4,247 (Power™ in Noblesse leather)—each at 10% below the suggested retail price. Because every Ruby is custom-made in Norway, the delivery time is approximately 8 weeks; delivery is free in Belgium and the Netherlands.
What warranty do I get with a Stressless® Ruby?
You receive a 10-year warranty on the internal mechanism: the Plus™ system, BalanceAdapt™, and the metal frame with springs. The motor and electrical components of Power™ are covered by a 5-year warranty, and the battery is covered by a 2-year warranty. In addition, you have the statutory 2-year warranty of conformity.
